Michael DeMan

The Arms of Krupp

For folks who think they want to solve all the world's problems, this is a great read.  An intelligent and reasonably well referenced book by William Manchester.

Although the younger may be offended or overly motivated by the classic individual-industrialistic aspects of the material, the older and wiser will enjoy the reading in a much fuller way when it is all placed in the context of the full history of humanity.
